BDO raises concerns about student integrity

As a means to combat an increase in dorm damages, a system of Barracks Duty Officers (BDO) has been implemented for all corps members. The policy is seeing some success in preventing the destruction of university property and other incidents of vandalism, but it has also caused some backlash, according to the cadet colonel and other corps students. From 1999 to 2008, Norwich took part in helping the Northfield community host their annual haunted hayride, until student apathy, new building construction, and the loss of volunteers caused the event to be discontinued, according to the former chair of the event’s volunteer staff, the Skeleton Crew.

Looming over the Upper Parade ground, casting watchful eye upon the Norwich campus, Jackman Hall hides away the heads of the university and sits as if in wait of the student passersby. The administration operating Norwich University (NU) has developed a negative image under the label “Jackman” that impacts the administrators’ relationships to students, according to a staff member. Parents weekend 2013

As a long-standing tradition at Norwich University, Family Weekend in October serves as a time for students of every year to reunite with their families. Every year in October, the NU club hockey team hosts a game in which ‘pink’ is the main theme – pink for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The crowd is encouraged to wear pink to show their support. [Read more…]

Every fall, the Norwich Baseball team, as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), is allotted only one day of competition and 16 official practices. For the second year in a row the Cadets made a trip to New England College (NEC) in St. Henniker, N.H., to compete in a fall doubleheader, and, for the second time, split the series with the Pilgrims, 1-1.
